BEIJING -- China's stocks closed lower on Wednesday as market sentiment remained low.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index moved down 1.1 percent, or 23.58 points, to close at 2,118.95, while the Shenzhen Component Index shed 0.45 percent, or 41.01 points, to close at 9,048.61.
