Kenya inks 8 deals with Jiangxi province

NANCHANG -- Kenya inked eight memorandums of cooperation in Nanchang on Saturday with East China's Jiangxi province during the visit paid by the African country's Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga.
Five of the documents were reached by Kenya and Jiangxi Corporation for International Economic and Technical Cooperation on projects of upgrading Kenya's highways and the construction of diesel-solar hybrid power supply system.
Meanwhile, the other deals are stroke between Kenya and Jiangxi Zhongmei Engineering Construction Co Ltd, covering three highway construction projects worth of $600 million.
Odinga paid the visit after attending the Fifth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation held in Beijing from Thursday to Friday.
Statistic shows that a total of 21 contracts worth over $5 million each had been inked between Jiangxi's companies and Kenya from 2009 and 2011.
