KUALA LUMPUR -- Chinese food traders from Yunnan, Tianjin, Hunan, Zhejiang and other provinces are due to showcase their specialties at a major Malaysian food trade fair this weekend.

China would be the largest participant country at Malaysia's 13th annual International Food and Drinks Trade Fair, occupying more than 110 booths, organizers said.

Tianjin municipality traders would exhibit food processing machines, processed meat, spices and food packing while food makers from Hunan province, a major rice grower in China, would promote its tea, fruit wine and canned food products.

Others like Pu-er tea from Yunnan province and herb and mushroom from southwest Chongqing municipality would be shown at the exhibition.

Thailand, South Korea and India are some of the countries taking part in the fair due from Thursday to Saturday.

Organizers said they are planning to set up two separate pavilions for Chinese exhibitors at the next trade fair to accommodate their large presence owing to the industry's growing preference for Chinese food imports.
