SAIC says March auto sales up 6.1%

SHANGHAI - China's top automaker SAIC Motor said on Tuesday its auto sales in March rose 6.1 percent from a year ago.

SAIC, which operates manufacturing joint ventures in China with Volkswagen and General Motors , sold 356,786 vehicles in March, it said in a filing to the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

For the first three months of the year, SAIC said sales were up 18.4 percent to 1.06 million units.
