China Everbright Bank's 2010 net profit surges 67.4%

BEIJING - China Everbright Bank Co said on Monday that its net profit jumped 67.4 percent to 12.79 billion yuan ($1.96 billion) for the 12-month period ended on Dec 31 last year, boosted by higher interest margins and commissions.
The bank's operating income rose 46.5 percent to 35.53 billion yuan, and its net fee and commission income surged 49.2 percent to 4.71 billion yuan.
At the end of 2010, the bank's non-performing loans totaled 5.83 billion yuan, 2.3 billion yuan less than the previous year, while the non-performing loans ratio dropped 0.5 percentage points from 2009 to 0.75 percent.
The capital adequacy ratio of the bank stood at 11.02 percent and the provision coverage ratio rose sharply to 313.38 percent last year, compared to 119.39 percent in 2009.
The bank's total assets equaled 1.484 trillion yuan at year-end, up 23.9 percent from the previous year, while its liabilities rose 22 percent to 1.4025 trillion yuan. Its outstanding loans and general deposits totaled 779.5 billion yuan and 1.0632 trillion yuan, respectively.
