Industry contributed 49% to economic growth in 2010

The industrial added value of all above-scale industries increased 15.7 percent year-on-year in 2010, 4.7 percentage points higher than last year's figure, the Securities Times reported, citing a report released Thursday by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Industry contributed 49.3 percent to the economic growth rate in 2010, an increase of 9.3 percentage points from the previous year, the newspaper reported.

Statistics showed that the profits from above-scale industries hit 3.88 trillion yuan ($590.2 million) in the first eleven months of 2010, up 49.4 percent year-on-year, according to the newspaper.
