350 hikers safe following snowstorm near Mount Qomolangma
A total of 350 hikers who were affected by heavy snowfall have safely arrived at a reception point in Qudang township, Dingri county in the Xizang autonomous region, CCTV reported on Sunday.
The hikers are in good condition and have been properly accommodated, authorities said.
Meanwhile, over 200 remaining hikers have been contacted and will be guided to the reception point with assistance from local authorities.
Snowfall hit the Gamagou area of Qudang on the eastern slopes of Mount Qomolangma, also known as Mount Everest in the West, on Saturday night, impacting travel plans of some hikers in the region. To ensure their safety, Dingri county government mobilized teams to provide contact, reception, and service support, local media reported on Sunday.
