Former Chongqing official faces bribery charges

A public prosecution has been initiated against Lu Kehua, a former senior Communist Party of China official who oversaw political and legal affairs in Chongqing, on suspicion of bribery, Central China Television reported on Wednesday morning.

Following the designation by the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Luzhou Municipal People's Procuratorate in Sichuan province filed a lawsuit against Lu with the Luzhou Intermediate People's Court.

The lawsuit comes following the conclusion of an investigation by the National Commission of Supervision into Lu's alleged misconduct in November 2024.

Lu is accused of leveraging his official positions to seek benefits for others and illegally accepting a particularly huge amount of money.

Lu, 61, was formerly the secretary of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs and a member of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPC.
