Robert Kuhn: Democracy fully demonstrated in China
The Communist Party of China has made significant strides in promoting democracy, human rights, and rule of law in China, said Robert Kuhn, a renowned US expert on China and also the chairman of the Kuhn Foundationin his speech at the Forum on Global Human Rights Governance.
"Democracy in the Party-led system involves absorbing political opinion via feedback mechanisms such as polling to discern what people think. For example, about proposed new policies a process that the Party calls pulling people's wisdom," said Kuhn.
Jointly hosted by the Information Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the China International Development Cooperation Agency, the Forum on Global Human Rights Governance opened in Beijing on Wednesday. The forum is themed "Equality, Cooperation and Development: The 30th Anniversary of the Vienna Declaration and Program of Action and Global Human Rights Governance".
