HK scholar: Central government aid to Hong Kong pandemic crucial
The recent COVID pandemic in Hong Kong has become the concern of all sectors of the community. Facing the grim situation, the central government is concerned about the safety and well-being of all Hong Kong residents and provided full support for Hong Kong. Lee Chack-fan, President of Chu Hai College of Higher Education and former Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong, shares his views with China Daily on the significance of the aid provided by the central government.
Lee said it is crucial for the central government to aid Hong Kong in this wave of pandemic. When there is a temporary shortage of supplies and medical staff, the central government helped the city to cope with the expanding outbreak by improving pandemic response, providing testing, treatment and quarantine capacity as well as ensuring the food supply.
Only by working as a whole could Hong Kong combat the COVID-19 pandemic, said Lee.
