It’s quite common to see people spinning tops on ice in the winter, but few could do it well while skating.

Every day in winter, Dai Weiliang comes to the frozen Songhua River in Harbin, capital of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, and practices a unique game he created.

Dai, 62, owner of a barbecue restaurant, has been good at both skating and spinning tops since childhood. But in the winter of 2017, he combined the two games together on a whim.

His skillful technique has drawn attention from lots of local residents and tourists.

He has also become famous among ice sports enthusiasts on the frozen river.

“The game brings me great joy and I will keep practicing,” he said. “I also hope residents and tourists can enjoy the beautiful landscapes of snow and ice as well as the cultural activities here.”
