KUNMING -- Two Burmese visa application centers opened Saturday in the cities of Mangshi and Ruili in southwest China's Yunnan Province, which borders Myanmar.

Authorized by the Consulate General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Kunming, the centers, both in the Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, will provide services including visa applications, information consultations, business meeting arrangements, and tour designs.

U Soe Paing, Consul General of Myanmar based in Kunming, capital city of Yunnan, said the opening of the two centers would deepen friendly exchanges between Dehong and Myanmar and facilitate Chinese tourists.

Situated on the China-Myanmar border, Dehong plays an important role as a platform for the cooperation between the two countries.

More Chinese people are heading to Myanmar via Dehong to travel or do business in recent years, said Wei Gang, the governor of Dehong, adding that a direct flight linking Mangshi and the Burmese city of Mandalay will open soon.
