10 pulled from site of landslide in Sichuan

Two people stranded at the site of a landslide in Fenshui town, Xuyong county in Southwest China's Sichuan province were pulled from the rubble at 6:05 am and 6:11 am on Monday, bringing the total number of people rescued from the rubble to 10.

The two were in stable condition and were conscious, according to a press release by the county government on its official website.

Of the previously rescued 8 people, three died on the way to the hospital, four are in stable condition and one is in the intensive care unit.

Efforts are ongoing to rescue a survivor trapped in the rubble and search for one missing person, an information officer for the county said.

A landslide buried three houses in Fenshui at around 4:20 pm on Sunday, burying 12 people.

The town is 60 kilometers from the county seat and borders Weixin county in Yunnan province.
