KUNMING - Police in southwest China's Yunnan province arrested five suspects for drug trafficking and seized 37.68 kg of methamphetamine, local police said Thursday.
The police in Zhenkang County in the border city of Lincang received a tip-off on Sunday that a group of people had attempted to rent a car to head for Kunming while avoiding checkpoints.
Police then seized five men from Myanmar in a silver sedan at a toll station in Yun County and found the methamphetamine hidden in their bags.
Further investigation is under way.
Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crime as it borders the Golden Triangle, an area notorious for rampant drug production and trafficking.
