Hainan is looking for talents specializing in healthcare, finance, biopharmaceutics, internet technology, oceanology and tourism, as the province steps up efforts to build the China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone and a free trade port with Chinese characteristics, and explores a new open economic system.

A Hainan talent fair was held in Zhongguancun, Beijing on Saturday. A total of 7,471 jobs from 371 enterprises from Hainan were offered in the talent fair, attracting graduates from 33 universities in Beijing.

The enterprises include state-owned enterprises, private enterprises and foreign enterprises. The atmosphere at the talent fair was very anxious and there were queues in front of many booths.

"Hainan will become an important meeting point for talents, logistics and capital flows, and then become an important node for global resource allocation. In the past six months, well-know enterprises at home and abroad, such as Swiss Re Group, Temasek Holdings, Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, Baidu Inc, came to Hainan, bringing numerous good jobs to young people," Shen Xiaoming, governor of Hainan, said.

On May 13, Hainan announced a plan to woo a million talented individuals from home and abroad by 2025, offering them preferential policies, including loans and free housing.

"It is surprising that there are so many graduates coming to our booth to consult or submit a resume, and most of them have a master's degree. I once thought our threshold was too high and there would be few people interested," said Zou Xuebai, general manager of Anchida Automobile (Hainan) Co Ltd.

"I plan to go back to Hainan to work after I graduate. Therefore, I came to this job fair for more information," said Fu Xuelian, a student from Capital Normal University.
