What's happening in the world next week

Several international meetings will happen in the Asia-Pacific region next week, with the attendance of President Xi Jinping, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Northern European defense ministers will meet in Oslo to discuss security challenges.

These political events will be under the spotlight for the week starting Nov 12.

President Xi to attend APEC meeting in Papua New Guinea

President Xi Jinping will attend the 26th APEC Informal Leaders' Meeting from Nov 17-18 and meet with the leaders of Pacific Island countries that have established diplomatic ties with China in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

The theme this year is "Harnessing Inclusive Opportunities, Embracing the Digital Future". APEC leaders will meet their counterparts from across the Pacific Islands to address regional trade issues.
