SYDNEY - Former Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt has been offered a contract by Australia's Central Coast Mariners soccer club, just over a week after a trial game where he scored two goals as center forward, according to local media reports.

"In response to the media stories, yes, Usain has been offered a contract. I do not want to make any further comment at this stage," Ricky Simms, the agent for the eight-time gold medalist said late on Sunday.

The club's coach Mike Mulvey said at a weekend post-match press conference that he was not yet aware of the offer to the retired sprinter. Mulvey has said he was willing to give the 32-year-old Jamaican a year to prove himself as a footballer and will likely reassess the trial arrangement around January next year.

Bolt, who has drawn record crowds to his appearances with the Mariners while receiving mixed reviews by pundits in his first seven weeks with the club, scored two second-half goals in an Australian League pre-season game in Sydney.

The "world's fastest man" recently turned down an offer to join Malta's Valletta FC and chose to continue his professional trial at the Aussie club.
