BAIC BJEV, the electric car making arm of Beijing Automotive Group Co Ltd, or BAIC Group, released its tech system Darwin at the BluePark Technology Conference in Beijing on Oct 18, 2018.

The electric vehicle manufacturer also displayed 11 "black technologies" for smart and electric vehicles, covering multiple fields such as battery and charging.

The debut of BAIC BJEV's Darwin System redefines artificial intelligence usage on electric vehicles, said the company. The EU5, the first model of the company adopting this new system, also made its debut on the same day.

"Technology innovation is the only path to turn China into an automobile power," said Zhang Xiyong, general manger of BAIC Group, at the conference.

"Black technologies" of the new Darwin system includes an all-day battery technology, which enables the battery heat time to shrink from 80 minutes to six minutes at under 30 degree centigrade.

The large power charging system will halve the charging time of the previous system. Models with this system will be able to run for 450 km after a 15-minute charging on a 350kW charging pole.

The isolated double-charge and discharge technology (V2L and V2V) have been applied on BAIC BJEV's EU5 R550 model. The V2L technology will turn electric vehicles into a "super power bank", enabling customers to enjoy an electric barbecue using their own cars.

The V2V technology, on the other hand, can turn the vehicle into a standard AC charging pole, which can charge all electric vehicles in line with the national standard.
