Chinese student murdered in Germany, suspect arrested

China's embassy in Germany confirmed on Wednesday that a Chinese national studying at the University of Jena in Thuringia, Germany has been killed, and that the alleged killer, a 23-year-old Vietnamese person, has turned himself in at a local police station.

According to the embassy's statement, they were informed about the incident by the Chinese students association at the University of Jena on Tuesday. The victim, whose surname is Liu, is said to be from Shanxi Province.

According to local media reports, the suspect surrendered himself at a local police station at noon on Tuesday, and assisted police with the recovery of the body of the 26-year-old victim from a local river.

Investigation into the killing is ongoing. The embassy said that they will provide consular assistance to the victim's family.
