Jilin-born ink painter Liu Guang, 49, has produced almost works in almost all genres of classic Chinese painting.

His birds and flowers, painted in the meticulous gongbi style on a circular piece of paper, recreate the grace of Song Dynasty (960-1279) art. And his landscapes and figure paintings convey a feeling of remoteness, and conform to the strict rules of painting.

Liu’s paintings are now shown at a solo exhibition, titled The Sound of Mountains and Waters, at the Poly Art Museum in Beijing through Wednesday. The exhibition then will move to Shandong province, Hong Kong and Xiamen in Fujian province.
