"Each of our imported wines has a famous sailing ship from the country's history on the label. Our ambassadors are sailing to China in containers on freighters, but they are still sailing to China on the seas. We are using the Maritime Silk Road to bring imported wines to China. Our story is lots of fun," says Svendsen.

1421 Wines was joined by other brands, such as La Collina dei Ciliegi, at the event. The tasting was paired with charcuteries, cheeses and oysters that were served alongside the spread of wines.

Speaking about La Collina dei Ciliegi's products, Federico Scrofani, its Asia area manager, says: "Our most-popular wine (at the event) is Amarone DOCG. Our Amarone is made from corvina, corvinone and rondinella grapes.

"It is matured in oak for at least 24 months and in the bottle for another six months before release. Amarone is famous as one of the kings of Italian wines."
