To celebrate the 91st anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army on Aug 1, the PLA is opening more than 600 military camps to the public.

According to National Defense Education Office, this year the PLA selected military facilities belonging to the army, navy, air force, rocket force and armed police across the country.

Opening the military camps to the public aims to let people better understand national defense and the development and achievements of military reform, as well as allowing them to appreciate the hardworking spirit of the armed forces.

It is expected that the move will help to strengthen the status of the military within society.

The first batch of military bases to be opened to the public are those with good infrastructure, long history and excellent performance, and include some housing combat troops with relatively difficult training and working conditions. The selected bases will organize a series of open day activities for the public.
