Man wanted for robbery hides in construction site in downtown Paris: report

PARIS - A man wanted by police in Paris for a robbery in a luxury watch shop hid on Wednesday afternoon in a construction site in the first arrondissement of the city, while no hostage has been controlled, French television channel BFMTV reported on Wednesday.

The wanted man has committed robbery in a luxury watch store in the seventh district of Paris, at around 1:50 pm local time on Wednesday, BFMTV said.

After the robbery, the suspect fled in a vehicle. He later abandoned the car and took refuge in the store of Samaritaine which is under construction in downtown Paris, said the report, adding that the big store has been evacuated.

A security perimeter has been set up around the store, according to the same source.
