Imperial College London will host three career fairs in China next month in collaboration with the London School of Economics and the University of Cambridge.

The three fairs – in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong – will offer prospective employers an opportunity to meet students from the three institutions who are native speakers and who are in either their penultimate year or their final year, or are graduate students.

Imperial College said the event in Hong Kong will not only be aimed at native speakers. Students from Berkeley, Harvard, MIT, and Columbia universities will also attend that event.

Last year’s fairs proved very successful, the London college said, with several attendees obtaining placements, internships, and job offers as a result of attending.

Imperial College said Chinese recruiters from multinationals, financial companies, government agencies, and manufacturing groups with a strong presence in China will attend. Representatives from Chinese State-owned companies will be present at the Shanghai event.

Imperial College said students can greatly improve their chances of finding a suitable position “by meeting employers face-to-face and obtaining information about recruitment and selection processes”.

No more than 300 students will be admitted to the fair at one time to ensure graduates get the chance to have more in-depth conversations with prospective employers.

While formal interviews will not be held during the event, some organizations have in the past held informal interviews and the institutions are warning students to be prepared.
