Chinese shares gained slightly on Wednesday after a 3.78 percent tumble one day earlier.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, increased 1.08 percent to 1,563.79 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index picked up 0.92 percent, closing at 9,501.34.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.27 percent, closing at 2,915.73.

Central bank governor Yi Gang said stock market fluctuations on Tuesday were mainly influenced by investor emotions.

He added China is preparing comprehensive monetary policy tools to maintain reasonable and stable liquidity, as policymakers keep a close eye on external shocks.
