BRUSSELS - Immigration continues to top the list of challenges weighing on Europeans, followed by terrorism and the economic situation, according to a Eurobarometer report published Thursday.

Answering the question -- "what do you think are the two most important issues facing the EU at the moment", 38 percent of respondents mentioned immigration while 29 percent said terrorism.

The economic situation ranks third (18 percent), ahead of the state of European Union member states' public finances, and unemployment.

The hierarchy of these top five concerns has remained unchanged since autumn 2017, the report noted.

The survey was carried out between March 17 and 28, 2018 in 34 countries or territories, including the 28 EU member states, and five candidate countries (the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkey, Montenegro, Serbia and Albania) and the Turkish Cypriot community in the Republic of Cyprus.
