Vitalization of revolutionary bases urged
A symposium on the rural vitalization and development of well-off societies at revolutionary bases such as Jinggangshan, Jiangxi province and Yan’an, Shaanxi province was held in Yuyao, Zhejiang province, on Thursday.
The town of Liangnong in southern Yuyao formerly served as an anti-Japanese revolutionary base during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45).
On Feb 28, President Xi Jinping called for the creation of villages that are prosperous, beautiful, civilized and livable in a letter replying to Party members in Hengkantou village of Liangnong, and encouraged them to play prominent and exemplary roles in building beautiful villages.
“Party organizations must work with firm resolve, and Party members must always hold themselves to the highest standards in a bid to handle rural affairs and pursue rural vitalization,” Xi wrote in the letter.
