Vice-president Wang Qishan will attend the 22nd St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and visit the Republic of Belarus between May 24 and 29, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang announced on Monday.

While attending the forum, Wang expects to exchange with Russian leaders in-depth views on bilateral relations, and talk about major issues that concern both nations, Lu said at a daily news briefing.

During his stay in Belarus, Wang will visit the China-Belarus industrial park, a project constructed under the Belt and Road Initiative, according to Lu.

He predicted Wang's visit will create a good atmosphere for an upcoming meeting in June between their heads of state that will happen on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Qingdao.
