Peking University's climbers succeeded in reaching the peak of Mount Qomolangma – the world's highest peak - to celebrate the 120th anniversary of Peking University's establishment on Tuesday.

It took the climbers nearly two months to accomplish the challenge, by way of the northern slope. The climbers planted China's national flag, Peking University's flag and the Mountaineering Association of Peking University's flag in the mountain, and recited the mottos "Peking University's spirit always stays at peak" and "keep united, revitalize the Chinese nation" upon reaching Mount Qomolangma's peak.

The mountaineering team included MAPKU members, Peking University students faculty, alumni and mountaineering enthusiasts. The youngest team member was 21 years old, while the oldest was 55.

Since the team was established in 2016, they have had physical and climbing training sessions two or three times a week. The cumulative elevation they have reached is higher than 80,000 meters, or ten times the height of Mount Qomolangma.
