The 7th Sino-German Media Dialogue concluded on Monday in Berlin with more than 40 media representatives and specialists taking part in the annual event.

The topics this year were "Globalisation and Media Role" and "International News in the Era of Social Media".

Guo Weimin, vice-minister of the State Council Information Office, said: "Both China and Germany are among the biggest information providers and consumers in the world, providing a solid foundation for media collaborations. The dialogue, coming into its seventh edition, has grown into an important platform for the media people of the two countries to communicate and cooperate on a yearly basis."

Andreas Michaelis, state secretary of Federal Foreign Office of Germany, said: "China is Germany's biggest partner in Asia as well as in the world on economy. In the backdrop of rising trade protectionism globally, this dialogue is of special significance nowadays."

The inaugural dialogue was launched in 2011 in Berlin.
