Polish President Andrzej Duda met on Monday with visiting Chinese senior official Guo Shengkun and discussed practical cooperation in law enforcement.

During the meeting, Guo, the special envoy of President Xi Jinping, conveyed Xi's greetings to Duda and said the president attached great importance to the development of Chinese-Polish relations. Guo also passed a letter from Xi to Duda that included proposals for further in-depth development of Chinese-Polish relations.

Guo, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of CPC Central Committee, briefed Duda on the 19th CPC National Congress held in October.

He said Xi's proposal to build a new type of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind has provided broad space for deepening Chinese-Polish relations.

Guo said Poland is an important partner and a link for cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries.

Cooperation between China and Poland within the Belt and Road Initiative already has yielded fruitful results, he said.

The purpose of the visit, according to Guo, is to further implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, extend friendship between China and Poland, deepen mutual trust, strengthen practical cooperation in law enforcement and security and enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Duda asked Guo to convey his greetings to Xi. He said Polish-Chinese political and economic relations maintain a good momentum of development and the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries in various fields has become closer.

Poland supports the Belt and Road Initiative and is willing to communicate and coordinate with China to improve the level of law enforcement and security cooperation and promote the development of bilateral relations, Duda said.
