China celebrated its National Security Education Day on Sunday. Various kinds of activities aimed at enhancing people's national security awareness were organized in recent days.

This is the third such education day since the National Security Law was enacted in July 2015.

Peace and prosperity are people's most basic and universal aspirations. Safeguarding national security is thus in the fundamental interests of all Chinese people. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Xi Jinping as the core has accurately grasped the characteristics of the country's security situation and made a series of significant policy arrangements aimed at maintaining national security. China has embarked on a national security road under the absolute leadership of the Party. This will offer more solid security guarantees for the country to realize national rejuvenation and ensure Chinese people can live peaceful and better lives.

History tells us that a flourishing age does not inevitably mean peace. Therefore, we must bear national security in mind at all times. The security risks and challenges we now face will undermine the nation's interests if not effectively tackled. China must strengthen the social foundation for national security and prevent and resolve various kinds of security risks. It must promote national security education and cultivate national security awareness among the public.

As the most basic public good, national security is by no means an abstract concept. When it comes to national security, nobody can remain an outsider or onlooker. This means that all of us should view safeguarding national security as our duty and responsibility. We should all make efforts to a build a solid wall of national security. And we should remember that the more secure a country is, the more sense of security its people will have.
