Leaders of both China and the UK should look into the future and work together to build the "Golden Era" of China-UK relations with enhanced mutual understanding, Vice-president Wang Qishan said.

Wang made the remarks as he met with a British delegation attending the 10th UK-China Leadership Forum in Beijing on Wednesday. The forum was held in Beijing on Tuesday.

The successful hosting of the forum has met the expectations of Chinese President Xi Jinping and British Prime Minister Theresa May, Wang said. Both leaders sent congratulatory messages to the forum on Tuesday.

The rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, as well as the country's opening-up, has met with the Chinese people's expectations for a better life, Wang said.

Noting that China's interdependence with the rest of the world is growing, Wang said China's development will bring more opportunities to the entire world. He also noted that both Chinese and British leaders have attached great importance to the UK-China Leadership Forum.

David Lidington, the minister for the Cabinet Office who leads the UK delegation, told Wang he hopes the two countries will deepen cooperation and exchanges to benefit the two peoples.
