Chinese pianist Wu Muye announces launch of world tour

Chinese pianist Wu Muye announced his upcoming world tour in Beijing on March 17, the 190th anniversary of the death of Austrian composer Franz Schubert.

Besides, he also signed contract with Sony Music at a press conference marking the launch, and performed two songs -- My Homeland adapted from the Chinese song of the same title by Chinese songwriters Qiao Yu and Liu Zhi, and Dreams of Love by Hungarian composer Franz Liszt.

During his tour, Wu will also perform in London, Paris and Tokyo.

Wu, who was born in Beijing into a family of musicians, gave his first public performance in a piano competition in Hong Kong at 5.

Then, like many promising child pianists, he was enrolled to study at the primary and middle schools affiliated to the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.

He, later graduated from the Paris Conservatoire.

In Paris, Wu studied with French pianist Jacques Rouvier.

Wu first toured China in 2009, and then performed with China National Symphony Orchestra in Paris in 2010.

In 2014, to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France, Wu played Chopin's Polonaise in A-Flat Major, Op 53 at a gala held at the Grand Palais in Paris.

The same year, the pianist played in Beijing along with China National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of French conductor Michel Plasson.

In 2016, the 33-year-old pianist played Debussy's Clair de Lune at the gala of the G20 Summit, which was held in Hangzhou, in Zhejiang province.
