International ice and snow festival opens in Shenyang

The 2018 Shenyang international ice and snow festival opened on the evening of Jan 10 in Qipan Mountain Ice and Snow World in the Liaoning provincial capital.

At the opening ceremony, ice dances, dramas and songs were performed for visitors.

Two ice and snow sculpture gardens, one located 50 meters east of Qipan Mountain Ski Resort and the other in Guandong Movie and TV Town, made their first appearances at the opening ceremony, showcasing sculptures with Mukden characteristics.

This year, over 45,000 cubic meters of ice and 137,000 cubic meters of snow were used to create more than 500 snow and ice sculptures, making it the largest such show in Shenyang.

Tips

Ice and snow sculpture garden opening hours: 9am-10pm, and lights begin at 5pm.

Tickets: 100 yuan ($15.37) for two exhibition areas; free for people above 70 years old and children below 1.3 meters.
