China is ready to deepen high level exchanges with France and enhance coordination with the country on international affairs, Vice Premier Wang Yang said.

Wang spoke after meeting Philippe Etienne, foreign policy adviser of the French president Emmanuel Macron, in Beijing on Tuesday.

Wang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said in recent years, China and France have developed bilateral ties with fruitful pragmatic cooperation guided by leaders of both sides.

He said China is willing to consolidate mutual political trust, deepen people-to-people exchanges, and push forward pragmatic cooperation with France to bring relationships between the two countries to a higher level.

Etienne told Wang that France attaches great importance to developing relations with China. He said France is willing to maintain close cooperation with China and make plans for developing bilateral ties for the next stage, so as to realize greater improvement in both Sino-French and Sino-European ties.
