SHANGHAI - No casualties have been reported in a fire that broke out in a chemical industry zone in the outskirt of Shanghai late Thursday evening, sources with the Shanghai fire brigade said.

The fire had been under control by 2 am Friday and no casualties were found, according to fire fighters.

The fire broke out at about 11 pm at an ethylene production facility in the Shanghai Secco Petrochemical Co., Ltd, sources with the chemical district's management committee said.

Secco is a chemical plant jointly invested by BP East China Investment Co. Ltd., Sinopec Corp. and Shanghai Petrochemical Co., Ltd (SPC).
